Exercises and Events in 2018 and 2019.

15th May - Operation Simex.  This is a 3 day exercise held around the Portsmouth area in which we will be involved for one of those days.  If you can help, please let Kevan know ASAP.

26th - 28th May - The Long Distance Walking Association 100.  This year the event is in Kent.  We will be manning one CP at Hythe near the South coast in Kent. This CP will be known as the breakfast stop and, is expected to be open for 12-15 hours.  I think we have enough members for this CP but, if you would like to help at other locations around the course, please let me know.  Be aware that the event is based from Hastings along to Dover,  which is well over 100 miles from Portsmouth.

10th June - Purbrook Ladies 5 mile road race.  More info nearer the time.

1st July - Summer Plod.  This is another regular event we provide assistance to.  This event is a part on road but mostly off road in the Meon Valley area.  We will need everybody out for this one and I will be asking other groups for their assistance.   New Note.   Alan Shons who is the organiser has cancelled the full marathon. This now leaves just the 10 mile race  which, will only require about 15 operators.   I may have to stand down some of the volunteers.

20th August - SEHR's AGM.       Notice of 2018 Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given of the 2018 AGM which will be held at Fernhurst Junior School, Francis Ave, Southsea PO4 0AG on 20th August 2018 at 7:00pm.   All members are invited to attend.

16th September - Butser Hill Challenge.   This very popular Fell Running event will, as the name suggests, take place on the slopes of Butser Hill near Petersfeild.  On air times start from 10.00 so we get breakfast before leaving home.   There are normally 2 races. The first one is for the younger runners and is a shorter course.  The main race starts a short time after the "junior" race is completed.  I anticipate we will need some help from other groups.   Some CPs will benefit from the use of 4X4 vehicles but most will be in reach of a normal car.

27th December - Portsmouth Joggers Club, Pub to Pub road Race.   This short road race takes place the day after "Boxing day".  The course is based on the narrow lanes around the East side of Horndean.   Two courses are used. A seven mile running route and a three and a half mile walking route. I will be sending out a plee for help Email around the start of December.    On air times start about 10am and we will be away before 13.00.

13th January, Stubbington 10 K.  The first event of the year.  No changes from last time.  We will need help from several groups.

Assisting other groups.    There are several  events held by other Hampshire Groups. Many of these will require our help.  If this is the case, I will send out my normal "plea for help" Email.   Further information can be found on the National RAYNET site.
